Drugs

“It opened my eyes. We only use one-tenth of our brain. Just think of what we could accomplish if we could only tap that hidden part! It would mean a whole new world if the politicians would take LSD. There wouldn’t be any more war or poverty or famine.”

Drugs are prevalent at music festivals. People come to music festivals for a variety of reasons, but many will state that their choice in drug usage during this time is for freeing, recreational, or connective purposes. While it is each individual’s choice whether they want to use drugs at a festival and what drugs they want to try, it is important to be safe and to be aware of your environment at a festival. Here are some things to look for and keep in mind:

  • If you are going to do drugs, do not buy them at a festival or take them from strangers.
  • If you have drugs, find someone with a test kit or an on site testing service.
  • People will approach you trying to sell drugs and other things. This is very normal and simply needs a “no thank you” if you want that person to go away.
  • Make sure the people around you that are using STAY HYDRATED.
  • If someone approaches you that you feel may be on drugs, create a positive atmosphere for them and inquire about where their group is. Creating a safe and welcoming environment allows the person who may be on drugs to remain calm and be better able to find their group while the group that person has approached will be continue living the PLUR lifestyle and be proactive in helping their fellow festival community member.
  • If you are uncomfortable with being surrounded by drugs and people who are using, a festival is probably not the best place for you.
  • Unlike what much of media and movies portray, the people who are at music festivals using drugs are people of all backgrounds and are mostly positive, so do not judge.
  • A few drugs you may see are Molly, cocaine, LSD, and marijuana.
