Clothing Basics

Whether you’re camping at a festival or staying at a hotel, the types of clothing you should bring stays consistent. Music festivals are all about expressing yourself and being bold, but most people going to their first festival aim to be styled like the celebrities of Coachella. The trend setting clothing you see from pictures of festivals like Coachella aren’t practical or realistic. Often times, people are rushed to get dressed each day to be prepared for a lot of walking, sweating, and just overall exhaustion. The clothing you choose to wear should match your personal style, but also be aimed for the long days. It is also important to note that you WILL run into wardrobe malfunctions and WILL lose things in all the chaos. So here are some items and tips for packing your clothing.

  • Remember to pack plenty of clean undies and socks. Most people are so focused on the outfits, they forget how nice a fresh pair of underwear and socks will be each day.
  • Pack a comfortable pair of shorts, sweats, and shirts to sleep in that will protect from the elements while sleeping.
  • Can never go wrong with a pair of fishnets to jazz up an outfit, just make sure you bring two pairs for when the first ones get a hole in them.
  • Bring at least one pair of closed toed shoes and one pair of sandals that are durable and you can spare to get dirty.
  • Bring two ponchos to bring with you into the festival, even if the forecast is sunny.
  • Put one outfit together for each day and put it in a gallon Ziploc bag, this will help you keep organized and on schedule day to day. Pack an additional 2 back up outfits.
  • Pack as little makeup as possible! The more you put on your face, the more you will have to take off later and the more the sun will be melting it on your skin.
  • I suggest bringing some mascara, stick on jewels, and some glitter with Vaseline for some easy looks.
